What is a career assessment?

Careers are taking on a new form as the world gets smaller and people are able to stretch the limits of conventional jobs. Instead of careers, we talk about career paths, which involve using SKILLS over the course of a career, rather than applying expertise to one job.

A career assessment is an evaluation of a child's aptitude. Aptitude is a child's natural ability in an area - such a calculations, or mechanical insight. A career test also investigates a child's personality traits and their values in order to see how these pieces all fit together. The career battery differs from psychologist to psychologist, but usually includes these tests in some form.
